We are the poison, We are the cure //// The environment i was given for the UN Berlin Biennale project is a 32 square meters desert space. // I imagined a post apocalyptic time, the aftermath of the end of the world or at least; the end of the earth as we know it. No ressources, no humans, no life. Working on this project in a critical time where the vital signs of the earth are threatened by ever growing wildfires, the continuing global warming, ocean acidification... I wanted to tell a tale of HOPE.
In this time when we feel that the earth and everything might die; we, humans, are waiting for someone stronger, more powerful, more resourceful than us to make a change, or that some kind of Superhero with great powers will save us and save the planet. Save it from our mistakes, (not to say the disasters that we have caused), and meanwhile; we are doing NOTHING when In fact WE could be the ones saving it, saving US and the future generations. Let’s change the way we see things, experience life a different way and let’s fall in love with the planet again, look at everything she gave us, the most spectacular horizons and species and we are the lucky ones who can experience them with deep feelings and emotions. We destroyed, we can rectify. We are the Super heroes.
I use comic books in most of my works and often will attempt to tell a story. In this particular project I chose images of our friendly neighborhood hero Spider-Man but also used Venom, is worst enemy. They are representing humans as the poison but also as the cure.
Now, I think it’s time you re-think the role you want to play in this story. In THE story. Cause yes, We can be Heroes.
I want to thank @urbannation_berlin and @yashayoungprojects for inviting me once again to participate in a brilliant and massive project. Work alongside great artists and Push me further in my own practice and allow me to have a voice that might echoe in the public’s mind.

Nous sommes le poison, nous sommes le remède //// La surface qui m’a été donné pour le projet de la Biennale est un espace désertique de 32 mètres carrés. // Imaginons que nous évoluons au coeur d’une période post-apocalyptique, au lendemain de la fin du monde ou, du moins, de la fin de la terre telle que nous la connaissons. Pas de ressources, pas d'humains, pas de vie.
Travaillant sur ce projet à une époque critique où les signes vitaux de la Terre sont menacés par des incendies de forêt grandissants, le réchauffement climatique en cours, l'acidification des océans, je voulais raconter une histoire d’ESPOIR.
En cette ère où nous sentons que la terre et tout ce qui s’y trouve peut mourir, nous, êtres humains, attendons quelqu'un de plus fort, de plus puissant, de plus nanti que nous pour changer les choses. Qu'une sorte de super-héros doté de grands pouvoirs nous sauve et sauve la planète. Qu’il nous sauve de nos erreurs, pour ne pas dire des catastrophes que nous avons causées, et entre-temps nous ne faisons rien alors que nous pourrions être ces sauveurs, pour nous et les générations futures. Nous avons détruit, nous pouvons rectifier. Nous sommes de super-héros.
J'utilise des bandes dessinées dans la plupart de mes œuvres et j'essaie souvent de raconter une histoire. Dans ce projet particulier, j'ai choisi des images de notre héros sympathique Spider-Man, mais j'ai également utilisé Venom; son pire ennemi. Ils représentent les humains comme un poison mais aussi comme un remède.
Je tiens à remercier Urban Nation Berlin et la curatrice Yasha Young de m'avoir invité une nouvelle fois à participer à un projet brillant et gigantesque. Travailler aux côtés de grands artistes me pousse moi-même plus loin dans ma propre pratique et me permet d’élever une voix qui pourrait résonner dans l’esprit du public.
